The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) announces Dr. Khalilah M. Harris as the Chief Strategic Advisor to the CEO. In her role, Dr. Harris will be responsible for directing the strategic advancement of CPE as a national thought leader, the country’s preeminent driver of public safety redesign, and reducing the harm and omnipresence of policing in Black and Brown communities.

“Our transformative work requires visionary talent, deep passion, and an unmatched level of skill,” said Dr. Phil Solomon, CEO and Founder of the Center for Policing Equity. “Khalilah embodies these qualities in an unparalleled way. Her addition to the team enhances our ability to advance racial liberation through public safety redesign and harm reduction.”

Dr. Harris built a career grounded in creating racial equity to advance opportunities for historically marginalized communities. In her new role, she brings to CPE the experience of working in two presidential administrations (the Obama and Biden administrations), K-12 public education systems, community organizing groups, and nonprofits. She combined strategic insights with passionate advocacy for building strong communities in each of these roles.

"I'm thrilled to join the dynamic team at CPE in their pursuit of justice,” said Dr. Khalilah M. Harris. “Having the ability to combine strategic thinking to both programmatic and operational excellence with an organization whose mission I believe in is an exciting moment in my career."

Capping an impressive resume, Dr. Harris is a licensed attorney in the State of Maryland, supporting several local charities and civic organizations. She is a proud and active life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the country’s first historically Black sorority.
