Public safety means that all people are equally safe in their homes, neighborhood, and larger community. For too long, public safety has been assumed to be the responsibility of solely the police. Now, communities across the country are taking steps to comprehensively reexamine public safety and grapple with the systemic injustices that shape it.
Through our policy work, CPE supports communities with data-driven analyses, resources, and policy solutions to improve their public safety systems. The resources CPE provides contain recommendations that can be readily adopted to drive change. No matter their focus and scope, these resources are grounded in evidence that supports the interrelated goals of achieving equity, justice, and safety.
