January 26 2022

Today, the Center for Policing Equity released the following statement on the shooting of two St. Louis Police Officers:

On Wednesday, two St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) officers were shot in Ferguson, MO located in north St. Louis County. One of the officers was wounded in the abdomen and remains in critical and unstable condition, according to Chief John Hayden of the SLMPD. The other officer was shot in the leg.

We keep the two officers, their loved ones, and the community of Ferguson in our thoughts and hope they are able to make a full recovery. Incidents of violence like this impact not just the individuals involved, but have a ripple effect felt throughout the community. CPE remains committed to creating public safety systems that produce safer communities for everyone involved, from the most disproportionately impacted community members to those who serve in law enforcement.
