Center for Policing Equity on the Ambush of Three Police Deputies in Texas

Today, the Center for Policing Equity released the following statement on the tragic ambush of three deputies in Houston, Texas:

This weekend, three Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputies were shot in an ambush while responding to a robbery. Deputy Darrell Garrett and Deputy Juqaim Barthen, were injured, and DeputyKareem Atkins was killed.

Our thoughts are with the family of Deputy Kareem Atkins, Deputies Garrett, and Barthen as they recover, and Harris County Precinct 4.

CPE condemns any violence, isolated or systemic. We are committed to create a public safety model that produces safer communities for everyone involved, from the most disproportionately impacted community members to those who serve in law enforcement.
