If there are going to be new laws governing how police in the United States do their jobs in the wake of George Floyd’s death, they will have to pass the Republican-controlled Senate.

To that end, a key committee in the chamber, the Senate Judiciary Committee, held its first big hearing on policing reform Tuesday. It came hours after President Trump announced an executive order on policing that focused on training. In the link below are five takeaways from the hearing.
