CPE Board Member Delores Jones Brown Discusses “Stop, Question, and Frisk Policies" in New York City

In an interview with Jon Lentz, Dr. Delores Jones-Brown, a CPE Board Member and the founding director of the Center on Race, Crime and Justice at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, discusses a new report on “stop, question, and frisk policies” in New York City. The report analyzes data from the NYPD website over the past three years and clashes with recent claims made by Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly of New York City. According to the resport, blacks and Latinos are 15 percent more likely to be frisked than whites whenever they are stopped. Dr. Jones-Brown says the data suggests that police officers may incorrectly assuming that blacks and Latinos are more likely to be armed or dangerous than whites.
